Greeter Duties

Arrive about half-an-hour before the meeting for worship.
  • Turn on lights
  • Open kitchen door to hallway
  • Signs are between the metal cabinet & wall: put one sign at each driveway entrance
  • Unlock metal cabinet
  • Put nametags, visitor book, money box, etc., on the table outside of the room used for meeting for worship
  • arrange chairs
  • greet people as they arrive; explain basics to first-time visitors (keep in mind that welcoming newcomers is the most important item on this list!); remind attenders that we encourage those who are led to ministry to stand if they are able & to speak loudly enough for all present to hear
  • close worship or ask for a volunteer to close worship if neither clerk is present (5 minutes prior to the end of the worship, ask if there are further prayers or sharings; at the end, join hands with those on either side, stand, after a short period send the hand squeeze; welcome & start introductions/announcements/1st day school report)
Afterward:
  • put signs, nametags etc., away
  • put rooms back the way they were when you arrived
  • lock cabinet
